Indian Ocean | Assessment of regional cooperation efficiency

The Indian Ocean Commission aims to promote regional economic integration and cooperation. Facing a lack of reliable and timely data, the Commission called upon Afrikasources and Red Mangrove to collect and harmonize macroeconomic data from the islands, analyze trends, assess the effectiveness of regional cooperation, and propose a mechanism managing and updating information.

More specifically, Red Mangrove’s mandate consisted in aggregating and harmonizing data between the territories (macro-economic context, evolution of the business climate, trade and investment trends, etc.), conducting a comparative analysis of these territories and their value chains, as well as a cross-analysis of integration dynamics. Red Mangrove also produced a review of free trade agreements and their impacts, and recommendations to facilitate their collection and updating.
