Niger | Retrenchment plan in the telecom sector

SONITEL, the Niger national telecommunication company in charge of fixed lines, and Sahelcom, its former branch in charge of mobile telephony, were to merge in order to create a privatized entity offering product synergies.

In this context SONITEL called upon Red Mangrove and SGgroup to prepare a social plan. We performed an internal audit and a comparative study and analysed the adequacy between the required needs and the existing workforce. The activities included a benchmark of similar organizations internationally, the identification of possible overstaffing and proposals for a social plan (early retirement, reclassification, voluntary departure plan, etc.).
